Recent statistics tell us over 222,000 people are injured each year in North America while using ladders. Most of these injuries can be prevented with the right safety precautions.
"Supplying Safe, Reliable and Field Tested Products for Over 60 Years." This statement on our website sums up what we are all about at the Coordinated Companies. A big part of ensuring job safety is the choice of fall safety equipment. Fall restraint, with the use of fall protection harnesses, lanyards and self-retracting lifelines, is critical to complying with existing regulations.
Personal fall arrest products and fall protection systems have advanced tremendously in the last 10 years. ANSI and OSHA regulations have much to do with the clear and stringent requirements placed on the manufacturers and users of these potentially life saving products.
OSHA 1926.502(d)(21) states "Personal fall arrest systems shall be inspected prior to each use for wear, damage, and other deterioration, and defective components shall be removed from service."
General industry standard ANSI Z359 2007, section 5.5: "Fall protection and rescue equipment shall be inspected on a regular basis not to exceed one year (or more frequently if required by manufacturer's instructions) by a competent person or competent rescuer, as appropriate, to verify that the equipment is safe for use. The inspection shall be documented."
Construction standard ANSI A10 32-2004 section 6.3.2: "Formal inspections shall be made by either a competent person or qualified person on a least a semi-annual basis…"
Both parts of ANSI state that the worker must inspect the fall protection equipment prior to every use and the formal inspections be documented. That's the employer's responsibility. Our responsibility is to ensure that every product we provide meets the safety requirements for fall restraint.
With complete fall protection in mind, Coordinated Wire Rope stocks a wide variety of safety harnesses, lanyards, self-retracting lifelines, and grabs to include:
